FATHER FIGURE by Ken Tipton

I saw all the parks filled with fathers and sons

Playing tag or catch, having lots of fun

More than anything I wished for a Dad

To guide and love me, even when I was bad

My mom and I were close, a family of our own

Til sickness took her away, leaving me alone

My step-father was always cold and cruel

Easy to make angry with his ridiculous rules

A father figure was what I craved

Even one that was sick and depraved

I learned so much from my Scoutmaster dad

He became the father I never had.

I was skinny and awkward, lacking self-esteem

In a world of my own, never part of a team

In Boy Scouts I found a brand-new life

Complete with structure, bonding, never any strife

My time in Scouting was a dream come true

Camping, fishing, learning things new

Scoutmaster Johnny became my mentor and friend

I needed his love and attention to the bitter end

A father figure was what I craved

Even one that was sick and depraved

I learned so much from my Scoutmaster dad

He became the father I never had.

No one knew Johnny was a wolf in sheep's clothing

With a mental sickness born of self-loathing

The abuse he suffered as a very young boy

Now controls his urges in search of sex toys

The first time Johnny touched me I was excited and scared

But I grew to enjoy the relationship we shared

We often traveled to meet with others of his kind

Where I eagerly offered my body and my mind

A father figure was what I craved

Even one that was sick and depraved

I learned so much from my Scoutmaster dad

He became the father I never had.
